Preschool Program

Preschool Program (3 to 4 years)

The right preschool choice can put your child on the right path for learning and success. The staff at Wesley Chapel Child Development Center want to make sure that we provide a positive environment paired with a solid foundation for learning. Our classrooms are spacious which allow many learning opportunities to take place. Our Preschool’s program provides the right opportunities for self-directed play, development of language, mathematical reasoning, and scientific thought. Children learn best when they are provided with well-defined centers that promote independence, encourage decision-making and require hands-on experiences. Through the use of learning and interest centers, core components of learning are enhanced: social-emotional development, cognitive development, physical development, as well as language development.

Through the use of The Creative Curriculum, our staff is able to assess children, share strengths and weaknesses through parent/teacher conferences, and to meet individual needs for each child. Our Curriculum is well designed to help each child learn these skills, as they work at their own pace, acquire new knowledge and become confident learners. Our highly trained staff helps each child achieve their highest potential making the transition to Junior Kindergarten as smooth as possible.

Junior Kindergarten Program (4 to 5 years)

Our Junior Kindergarten is for students who are 4 before August 31st. This program is offered to students Monday- Friday and is tailored to meet the needs of students who will be entering Kindergarten the following school year. Students that have a September birthday and miss the cut-off date, will be offered this program, if through assessment, they demonstrate emotional, social and academic readiness skills.

Junior Kindergarten combines the structure and social skills associated with Kindergarten and the cognitive content that is developed during this important year. Our program takes a developmental approach to learning through academic standards, daily routines and incorporates resources demonstrated in a traditional kindergarten setting, at a child’s individual pace. Through the use of The Creative Curriculum, our staff is able to assess children, share strengths and weaknesses through parent/teacher conferences, and to meet individual needs for each child.

In addition to exploring all objectives and goals set forth in “The Creative Curriculum”, our program introduces students to a more formalized way of learning. Each week, students will be introduced to Spanish, Music, Art and Physical Education. Materials within the classroom will be used to further enhance academic skills as well as a means to develop the “whole child”.

Through the use of themed based activities, learning centers, arts and crafts, manipulatives and phonics, children can experience a learning environment that fuels the child’s natural curiosity and desire to learn. As a result, each child will develop a foundation of learning that will stay with your child throughout a lifetime.
